Journal Title: Journal of Pharmacy Research - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 12

Abstract

An extensive review on the growing requirements, its botany and the medicinal value of this plant has been incorporated. This plant has been known for its diverse range of therapeutic importance in ethno medicine, Ayurvedic, Unani and in the recent system of medicine i.e. allopathy. These all remedial values to cure massive diseases are due to the presence of a diverse range of chemical constituents. During the twentieth century, when exploring the natural environment, man has made great discoveries that have enabled him to use a considerable number of natural resources. Beside well knowledge of herbal medicines and occurrence of a large number of medicinal plants, the trade share of India regarding folk medicine, plant derived drugs and medicinally potent natural compounds in the global market is not up to the mark.
