Abstract
During the 90s’ this branch of the economy underwent a profound restructuring process due to the exploitation of fshery resources by foreign fleets. Transnational capital applied a model of resource exploitation that led to exhaustion, since it did not respect the times of the species of high commercial value. The consequences of the process were starting to be felt in the late 90s’ and they made an impact in the early years of the new century. We will try to show the process of looting of this resource, noting how it responded to the workers, what kinds of struggles were developed, through which organizational experiences and what kinds of relationships were established with employers and governments. We will work with the period between 1990 and 2005, emphasizing the great strike that takes place in Chubut that year. The period allows us to observe the changes that are generated in the sector from achieving hegemony of fnance capital as well as the process of protests, struggles and social conflicts that develop there.
