Thyroid dysfunction in pregnancy and postpartum

Abstract
The influence of thyroid disorders (hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism) on fertility, pregnancy and fetus development as well as appropriate treatment of these disorders in pregnant women are discussed. Recommendations on screening for thyroid disorders in pregnant women or in women who are planning to become pregnant and iodine prophylaxis are presented.
