TOPONYMS AS THE BASIS FOR FORMING OCCASIONAL DERIVATIVES

Journal Title: Слов’янський збірник - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue 19

Abstract

The article considers semantic and structural peculiarities of occasional words in media texts that are formed from precedential and derivative toponyms. It can be stated that the semantic richness of such formations is determined by encyclopedic information of motivating place names. The expressiveness of the occasionalisms depends on violations of usual derrivational patterns and the use of telescopy, which actualizes the semantics of both motivating words in a new formation.
