Abstract
The article deals with the structural-semantic peculiarities of the topos of the tree in the Ukrainian contemporary prose. On the basis of H. Shton‟s story «The Pastoral», O.Zabuzhko‟s novel «Field Work in Ukrainian Sex» and L.Holota‟s novel «Episodic Memory» the semantic codes of images of a tree, a forest, a garden, flowers and vegetables were defined and the connections with philosophical and moral-ethical problems were specified. The functions of the topos of the tree are studied in the structure of the art world of the Ukrainian contempo-rary prose
