Journal Title: Revista de Estudios Marítimos y Sociales - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 9
Abstract
The objective of our article is to establish the influences between the dynamics of the fluvial ports and the rural towns, located in the western band of the Río de la Plata and Paraná in the jurisdiction of Buenos Aires, in the conformation stage. We considered that these towns were influenced by the framework of political and economic interests of sectors of the colonial society and first half of the XIX, that were contradictory for their consolidation as establishments and influenced in their characteristics, maintaining the internal balance between the different components from the port complex. The commercial dock berths and their functions seemed to have still lasted during several decades of the century XIX, causing that the towns and the infrastructure of some ports were not essential for the operation altogether of the fluvial commerce. Like a first approach to the subject, we propose to analyze the population estimations and the tie income and expenses to the ports calculated in the rural municipalities of half-full of century XIX.
