Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філологія. Літературознавство" - Year 2016, Vol 277, Issue 265
Abstract
The article focuses on the question of semantic content of mythological images in Ukrainian socialist-realist litera-ture. The main objectives of this study are to clarify the genesis of basic images of Soviet mythology, the allocation of their functional aspects and principles of semantics transformation. It was found that the synthesis of pagan and Chris-tian mythologies was used to form the basis of totalitarian myth. Images of the October Revolution, Lenin and revolu-tionist have become the basic categories of the Soviet myth. The image of the Revolution was used for the organization of time-space dimension of world order. With the help of this image Soviet chronotop was divided into sacred and pro-fane. The author argues that for the construction of a new social hierarchy the model of the patriarchal family was used. The archetype «Father» was represented by the image of the leader («vozhd»), and the archetype «Mother» was incarnated into the image of Motherland (Moscow). It was found that in Soviet totalitarian myth the image of «leader» expanded its semantic content to the level of «demiurge». The model of the mythical hero-savior was implemented in the image of a cultural hero, whose worldview was based on the Soviet ideology
