THE SPECIFICS OF MODELING A FANTASY WORLD IN THE FAIRY NOVEL «THE ENCHANTED MUSICIANS” BY HALYNA PAHUTIAK

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the peculiarities of modeling a fantasy world considering the genre specifics of «The Enchanted Musicians» and the manifestation of neomythologism in this literary work. The paper examines the relation of the fairy novel with chivalric romances and fairy-tales. It considers the literary technique of deheroizing the archetypal image of the knight as a sign of neomythological works. The study analyzes the semantics of the rite of passage. It details the peculiarities of visualization of the author’s mythological thinking in depicting the spirits of nature. The research pays extra attention to the reactualization of the archaic customs related to the world of plants through the images and motifs of the fairy novel. It stresses the importance of the motif of restoring harmony in the world as a major one in Halyna Pahutiak’s literary works. The paper focuses on the representatives of the mythologem of the garden in «The Enchanted Musicians». It highlights the presence of autobiographical markers in the mythopoetics of the novel. The study also considers the transformation of the mythologems of Celtic origin. The conclusion can be drawn that H. Pahutiak’s modeling fantasy worlds reflects the author’s intentions to creating harmonious worlds based on the principle of equity of all living beings. The results of this paper will contribute to future research on similar topics.
