Abstract
One of the most famous hymns of Rig-Veda, X. 129, attracted attention in Ukraine in second half XIX – early XX century. It not only translated in Ukrainian (Lesya Ukrainka, P. Ritter, M. Kalynovych) and Russian (D. Ovsianyko-Kulykovskyi, A. Kozlov) languages but also tried to interpret. Trying of D. Ovsianyko-Kulykovskyi was most successful. In particular, the Kharkiv professor rightly suggested to translate Sanskrit concepts “asat” and “sat”, as “non-existing” and “existing”. Along with other indologists (e.g., A. Macdonell, F. M. Müller, S. Radhakrishnan, S. Dasgupta, M. Hiriânna), D. Ovsianyko-Kulykovskyi also belongs the hymns of Rig-Veda, X. 129 to philosophical texts
