Abstract

The present article deals with translation techniques for translation the guidance texts, namely the operating instructions of agricultural machinery equipment. In the modern translation studies to describe the translation process commonly used phrase «the translation strategy». A common feature of the most definitions of «strategy translation» are a set of possible actions translator, aimed to create translation of certain text. Considering the large number of the using instructions, linguistics do not have monosemantic definition of the term. Following the I.A. Gladkiy the instruction means a separate type of text with a special way of content presentation by which gives accurate (step by step) order of the implementation of certain actions that lead to concrete results. Translation-oriented analysis of texts instructions for agricultural machinery allowed to find out that when reproduction of text instructions for agricultural machinery the most appropriate strategy that is the strategy of maximizing reproduction of the original content. This is caused that the instructions characterized by the use of specific terminology, which requires full reproduction and often the explanation because instructions for agricultural equipment are designed primarily for user-layman. Instructions require accurate following of the actions, so ambiguous or wrong translation can lead to improper operation equipments. Consequently, the text should be reproduced as accurately as possible. The translator should consider the use of translation transformations. The transformation of transposition and substitution are typical for any text. The adding and specification can be used to improve the quality of understanding by user requirements of instructions. The omission and generalization often lead to ambiguous understanding of the requirements or even to a complete disregard of one or more of the requirements. It is also important to note that the translation strategies are often used in combination, but the interpreter should always remember that the main text of the instructions should be reflected as accurately as possible, and therefore, other strategies should be used only in the introduction instructions. Translation-oriented analysis of texts instructions for agricultural machinery also allowed to reveal that transformations are caused by differences of grammatical and syntactical peculiarities of the source language and the target language. In addition, it was found that omission and generalization is virtually unacceptable transformations for translating the instructions as they often lead to misunderstanding text of instructions. On the other hand, they can be used effectively to avoid tautology.
