Treatment of bath greywater using cartridge filters as a way to reduce water consumption in households
Journal Title: Annals of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. Land Reclamation - Year 2013, Vol 45, Issue 1
Abstract
Nearly one third of the high quality water in households is used for flushing toilets. Water resources in Poland are relatively poor. Therefore the use of water of inferior quality parameters to flush the toilet bowls is satisfactory. It is possible to use for this purpose the greywater from the washing of the body (the bath water) after treating it to the level which doesn’t threatens human life or health. The paper presents prelimi- nary results of research on potential use of car- tridge filter to treat greywater from the washing of the body (from bath) in order to re-use water in households. It was found not significant effect of increasing the quality of bath greywater treatment using polypropylene and carbon cartridge filters.

Modeling of water flow in multi-channel river system in the Narew National Park
Anastomosing rivers constitute a rare example of multi-channel systems, which used to be very common before the agricultural and industrial development. Presently few of them remain worldwide and the only example in Pola...
The small strain stiffness from bender elements tests for clayey soils
The shear modulus of soils at small strain (G0) is one of the input parameters in a finite element analysis with the hardening soil model with small strain stiffness, required in the advanced numerical analyses of geotec...
Biological assessments of streams that have been adversely impacted by sediment runoff in Idaho, USA
Sediments are the major source of pollution in surface waters of the Pacific North- west Region of the USA. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between SMI water quality scores at 76 sampli...
Analysis of thermal diffusivity data determined for selected organic topsoil layer
Thermal diffusivity (KT) is a very complex soil property. However, proper estimation of this parameter is very important for the study of thermal processes in the soil. Nevertheless, the thermal diffusivity of peat and o...
Estimation of lowland river cross-section changes for different soils
This paper involves a comparative analysis of cross-sectional changes at selected reaches of a lowland river, flowing through the areas of mineral and organic soils. The comparisons were made at the background of design...
