TRENDS AND WAYS OF PROMOTING OF AVIATION COMPANIES’ INNOVATION ACTIVITY IN UKRAINE

Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of innovation activity of domestic aviation companies and encouragement measures. As of today, based on the introduction of active innovation activity by an aviation company, its success and competitiveness depend on how flexible it is to new requirements and market expectations, whether it can improve the characteristics of service provided and their nomenclature, as well as streamline production processes. The analysis of dynamics and structure of the domestic airline market has been carriedout, showing the absence of stability in the branch development. Improvements were fixed in 2010 and the momentum was maintained up to 2013, as evidenced by the stable tendency towards increasing the volumes of cargo and passenger transportation. As a result of countrywide crisis, over 2013-2015 negative tendencies towards decreasing the volumes of cargo and passenger transportation and reducing the share of domestic aviation companies on the international aviation market took place. The high level of competitiveness, as well as the rate of competing companies are high enough. Under the given conditions, the domestic aviation company feels apressing need to recover innovation activity. According to the survey of domesticaviation sectorinnovation activity, aviation companies give in sufficientat tentionto innovations, level of funding of research and development (R&D) is much more lowerin comparison to the EU countries and Russia, and the volume of realized innovations is small in the total volume of sales. A special attention was given to the features of innovation activity of different aviation company types – traditional, low-costand helicopter. The discrepancies in the aspects of their innovation activity, needs and directions have been established. It was concluded that to encourage and support the innovation activity of domestic airports, the state assistance in the implementation of the developed target program, reduction of tax burden, cost-cutting of credit resources, and protection of interest of domestic R&D institutes. While developing the measures to support the innovation activity, the features of different aviation company types should be taken into account.
