TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES APT T5W DIFFERENT NODES RELATED TO FRICTION AND TYPES OF MOTION
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 240, Issue 6
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to show the tribological properties of aluminium oxide coatings deposited on EN-AW-5251 aluminium alloy by the hard anodising method. The oxide coating is characterised by fibrous structure and porous surface morphology, and pore size depends on oxidising conditions. Production of hard and wear resistant oxide coatings is the universally used method for the improvement of the tribological properties of aluminium. The oxide coatings were tested in pairs with T5W plastic, which is used to production of seals for piston devices. Tribological tests were carried out using the following test equipment: T-01 (rotational motion), T-05 (rotational and oscillating motion) and T-17 (reciprocating motion) under dry friction conditions. For all types of friction pairs, the oxide coatings were produced in the same conditions of current density, electrolyte temperature and oxidation surface. This study included analyses of the tribological characteristics for individual types of motion. The analysis of tribological test results has been complemented with the results of the surface morphology tests.
