TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE PLASTICALLY CONSOLIDATED ALUMINIUM POWDERS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2013, Vol 247, Issue 1

Abstract

The results of the tribological tests performed on the aluminium (1070 grade) produced by rapid solidification and plastic consolidation powders are presented in the article. The results were compared to solid aluminium in the same composition. The samples were subjected to wear tests performed by a block-on-ring wear tester. Tests were performed in the conditions of dry tests and with the application of the lubricant (OCG 1000) at the beginning of the process. Results indicate a considerable increase in the wear of the materials in the condition of dry friction in comparison to the friction with the application of the fluid at the beginning of the process. Applying 7075 alloy as a rotating ring affects the abrasive wear of both the sample and rotating ring.
