TURKISH SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS IN LONDON

Abstract
The social and cultural organizations, which has both transnational and diasporic features, is one of spaces that belongs to Turkish community in London. The aim of this paper is to indicate the distribution of Turkish social and cultural organizations in London, and to categorize them along with the historical background. The classification of Turkish social and cultural organizations is based on ‘umbrealla organizations’ which bring diverse organizations together such as unions and clubs. In this context, the Turkish social and cultural organization is divided into three umbrealla orgazations as Counciel of Turkish Cypriot Assocation, The Federation of Turkish Assocation in the UK and The Platform of Demokratic Power Coalition in Britian. In addition, field observastion and interview are used for a method gain information about the social and cultural organizations in London.
