Abstract
The article deals with the features of the creative rethinking of avant-garde art in the aesthetic theory and artistic practice of E. Zamyatin. It is proved that, in spite of showiness critical evaluation of individual avant-garde trends and individual artistic systems by the writer, Zamyatin practices various methods of avant-garde in his writings – the technique of shifting, configuring, narrative nonlinearity, methods of lettristic visualization. His prose demonstrates the processes of intermedial cross-links of various types of arts – painting, cinema, theater, techniques of cub- istic decomposition of an object and its metonymic image. Zamyatin’s theory of syntheticism has cross-sections with avant-garde attitudes to the deformation of norms and the creating the non-classical poetics.
