Two Dimensional NonlinearFinite Element Analysis of aReinforced ConcreteFramed Structures (Based on the Real Reference Axis of a Cross- Section)
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 7
Abstract
Generally, there are three modelsof Macroscopic Model, Microscopic Model and Lumped Plasticity Model (LPM) existed for the for non-linear analysis of framed structures. The present studyuses the Macroscopic Finite Element Model(Mac-FEM)model to analyze thenon-linear geometrical, beams materials and two dimensional (2-D)reinforced concrete frames and consider the effect of transverse reinforcement. In the previous analyses, two fixed and varied reference axes were used to calculate the geometrical and mechanical characteristics of the sections and the elements stiffness matrix. In the linear elastic analyses, the geometry center is the reference axis forcalculating the section flexural stiffness(EI). for the purpose of obtaining the section flexural stiffness, the real reference axis called rigidity center is being applied based on the solid mechanics relations. This axis is displaced during the analysis due to the materials behavior change in section's height. This is while the researchers had applied the fixed axis in their analyses. The analysis results prove the necessity of applying the section's rigidity center to prevent the unbalanced forces. Furthermore, the results demonstrates that in terms of the applicabilitythe Mac-FEM has the relative superiority compared to the Mac-FEMand also regarding the accuracy the Mac-FEM has the relative superiority compared to LPM.
