TWO PERFORMANCE OF OPERA "KATERINA IZMAILOVA" D. SHOSTAKOVICH BY A CONDUCTOR K. SIMEONOV ON THE STAGE OF NATIONAL OPERA OF UKRAINE

Abstract
The performance of “Katerina Izmailova” lead by K. Simeonov in 1965 brought D. Shostakovich opera back to the national stage after 30 years of rejection. D. Shostakovich admitted this interpretation as the prime example and the best of what he had seen in his country and abroad. This happened to be an extraordinary great event in cultural and artistic life not only in Ukraine but also abroad. The per-formance was given the State award of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko and is included in musical literature as triumphal. Personally for D. Shostakovich this was the last award in his life.
