UK financial institutions bad practices analysis – lessons for the Polish market

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the most important issues-related to bad practices of financial institutions and their consequences based on the UK market experience. A look at the domestic market from the international perspective will allow fair understanding of the intentions which inspired Polish institutions (in particular, the Financial Supervisory Commission) seeking to implement the highest-mentioned standards the sale of insurance products in banks. The British case show that cooperation between the two sectors often resulted violations of the rights of consumers, which led to a very large increase in the number of customer complaints and the redress. The analysis in the article shows the most important elements in which we can find an analogy to the phenomena occurring also on the Polish market, especially in the field of insurance sold in the bank distribution networks.
