Ukrainian and Russian linguists’ claims about the sources of historical research of the morphological forms of the East-Slavic languages

Abstract
The article is the first attempt of linguistic-historiographic study of the development of the methodological premises of historical research of the East-Slavic languages, based on numerous works by Ukrainian and Russian linguists of 1870s. – 1930-s. The author analyzes the respective linguists’ claims concerning the sources and their hierarchy, their contribution to the development of methodology of linguistic-genetic studies of Old-Russian morphological evolution.
