Misunderstanding caused by the cooperative principle violation (in english portrayed artistic discourse)

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the overview of misunderstanding caused by the violation of G.P. Grice’s сooperative рrinciples in the English portrayed artistic discourse. This investigation of misunderstanding phenomenon has resulted in summarizing the pragmatic reasons for misunderstanding, such as the speaker’s insufficient knowledge of a certain topic; the speaker’s deceitfulness or dishonesty; a deviation from the subject of speech; indistinct speech or the ambiguity of the meaning. In portrayed artistic discourse, misunderstanding is expressed by the characters’ non-verbal behavior description, as well as their direct or inner speech.
