UMA FOLHA SECA NÃO TEM LAR: INTERFACES DO DISCURSO EM RELAÇÃO À MULHER EM CANÇÕES DE AMADO BATISTA E MARÍLIA MENDONÇA

Abstract

In this article, we compare the songs Folha Seca (Dry leaf), by Amado Batista (1997) and Amante não tem lar (Lover has no home), by Marília Mendonça (2017), both composed by respective interpreters. The first, a male artist, representative of the “Brega” music, a musical genre that, as a rule, brings androcentric representations about the feminine. The second, a woman and exponent of a musical movement that, in theory, express the female empowerment (the “feminejo” or female sertanejo). The objective of this study is to analyze how the lyrics of these songs work the adultery and monogamy theme and the relation of this approach with the feminine ideal with a patriarchal matrix that places women as naturally engaged for marriage and to the constitution of a model family through marriage. We search to demonstrate that even separated by a temporal gap of approximately forty years and of their own particularities, the songs to refer as common place to naturalize this archetype and the prejudices about the feminine from him.
