The defining feature of the 60-ies XX century is a general tendency to increase in urban population as compared with the inhabitants of the village. Increasing the townspeople in the republic was due to natural increase and migration and the growing number of cities and towns. An example of this growth serves Kherson region, where the number of cities was in 1959 – 23, and already in 1970 reached – 35. In the Odessa region the corresponding figure number of cities and towns increased from 1959 – 26 to 1970. – 39. Overall, South Ukraine did not stand out particularly specific in the USSR, because the urban population has progressed at general republican values. The most convincing examples serve as changes in urbanization processes studied region, namely Mykolaiv, Odesa and Kherson regions. According to archive data calculated statistical population of Mykolaiv region in 1960 amounted to 1025 thousand people, of them 404 thousand people, – urban population, 621 thousand people – rural population. By the 70th district disparity of urban and rural population in the region did not change and amounted in 1970 – 1111 thousand people in general. Of these, 423 thousand people – urban and 688 thousand people – rural population. However, the archival fund has note specifying Department statistics on population at 1 January 1967, it was – total 1,1002 thousand, of which 520.2 thousand people – urban, 580 thousand people – agriculture. Thus, according to updated data, e major deviation from the first archival performance: 417 thousand people – urban population of 670 thousand people – rural population: a total 1,087 thousand people. Given the archival sources, we can assume that the Mykolaiv region was different from other regions studied region. The processes of urbanization have led to the need for expansion of infrastructure. Increasing the volume of construction costs and, consequently, housing in general, which was divided into osuspilnenyy and personal property, as evidenced in the analysis of statistical data studied region. Urbanization has identified the need for construction of kindergartens, schools, children’s camps, hospitals, cultural centers, cinemas and more. In addition, the increased need for rail and road routes. Significantly increased rates of rail transport. According to these statistics in our study region of admission and departure of goods increased in half – twice. In addition, increased volumes and freight water transport. So, in the South of Ukraine, the number of townspeople progressed at general republican values. Convincing example serve as changes in the urbanization process of the region under study, which confirmed the statistical and archival data.
