USE OF NON-TOXIC ODORIFEROUS SUBSTANCES AND LUMINOPHORES FOR ASSESSING TECHNICAL CONDITION OF COMBINED FILTERS

Abstract
The current methods of assessing the technical condition of combined filters do not satisfy all the requirements resulting from the necessity to use them during overseas military missions. This problem may be solved by substituting new non-toxic odoriferous substances and luminophores for toxic test agents (chloropicrin or CS gas). The research conducted at the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Land Forces Military Academy in Wroclaw may contribute to the development of a new method of fit testing of a gas mask that will be based on non-toxic test substances. Damage to the combined filter will be detected organoleptically.
