UTİLİZATİON OF FAMİLY MEDİCİNE SERVİCES İN RURAL AREA OF ESKİSEHİR

Abstract

Evaluation of health care services by their own users contribute to development of quality in the health sector. This study was planned for determining the utilization status of family medicine services of the people living in rural and semirural areas of Eskişehir. This cross sectional study was conducted in Alpu and Beylikova districts. Total 2482 households were reached and the study was carried out with a total of 2351 households (94.7%) which were accepted to participate to the study. The data were collected with a 14 question questionnaire by using the face to face interview technique. Data were analysed with descriptive statistics and chi-square test. Of 89.6% participants were received health service from ASM in semi-rural area and 82.4 of them were first applied to primary healthcare service in working hours when they were sick. Of 72.3% participants were found enough information about use of prescription, while 71.4 of them about diseases and 52.9% of them about non-disease subjects of health. Also 70.8% of participants were found enough allocated examination time of family doctor. Of 29.9% participants were denoted vaccine service, 25.8% pregnant monitoring service, 40.2% blood pressure service and 41.1% injection service better in present system than previous system. Most of participants use primary healthcare service as first applied healthcare service in semi-rural areas, also participants are more satisfied especially from from preventive health services in new system in rural areas. The lack of a research carried out for the presentation of family medicine in our country reveals the need to undertake more extensive research on this subject.
