The livestock sector is of great importance in Van in terms of livestock production and being an important source of livelihood. The predisposition of people to animal husbandry (especially ovine breeding) depending on socio-cultural factors in Van province, the existence of large plateau and plain areas and large meadow-pasture areas and the high animal existence highlight the livestock potential of the province. About 9.3% of Turkey's ovine and 1.4% of Turkey's cattle are located in Van. Beekeeping and pearl mullet hunting are also important livestock activities in Van. Ranking 10th in Turkey in honey production, the province of Van also supplies approximately 30% of Turkey's inland fisheries. With this review, the current situation of animal husbandry in Van has been tried to be revealed.
