Vertical Loading Behavior Analysis of Floating Pile in Finite Soil Layer

Abstract
To investigate the vertical loading behavior of floating pile, the soil column under the pile bottom was assumed to be an extending fictitious pile shaft. By means of the unified function of the soil-pile column modulus, the governing equations of the pile and the soil column were established. Considering the soil-pile interaction, the analytical formulas of the soil displacement, the pile head stiffness and the pile tip stiffness were derived. The proposed solution was validated by compareing with those of the available methods. Parametric study shows that the pile head stiffness increases with the increasing of the pile slenderness ratio and the pile-soil stiffness ratio. When the pile tip is close to the bedrock, the pile head stiffness increases rapidly and the pile tip stiffness by the proposed method is totally different from the solution results of the rigid disk on the elastic half space.
