Violence: Content and Forms of Realization in the Transformational Processes

Abstract

Modern socio-political processes in the Ukrainian society are indicated by weakening of those forms of violence associated with political and economic spheres, and domination of others- violence by organized groups spontaneous, irrational violence. Violence as an ontological characteristic of social existence appears in the fullness of his forms, but social transformation processes show some form dominate over others. It defines the deterministic role of violence concerning – the nature of social transformations, that actualizes scientific research regarding the determination of its forms and the establishment of laws, their approval in specific historical stages of social development. This article analyzes the various classifications of forms of violence. Considering the typology of forms of violence and focus on the subject, distinguish self-directed, interpersonal and collective violence. The first two forms have an indirect impact on social transformations: as provocation that will cause the beginning of structural transformation processes; as typicality that becomes massive. Social violence is expressed in political, economic and collective forms. Political violence has organizational character and is aimed at preventing the irrational violence, during the social transformations are actualized the revolutionary and concentrated violence. Depending on the availability of the subject of action (actor) and according to him the nature of social expression distinguish the following forms of violence: physical, structural, system. The use of physical violence allows in the period of social transformations on the basis of fear of physical pain to deny defined by its subject as irrelevant social norms and rules. Implementation of violence by repressive structures characterized by the support, coordination of people actions even those to whom it is directed. Systemic violence is implemented in the relevant social institutions, which exercise control based upon developed and established in the law system of "social order" and through the mechanisms of intimidation.
