Abstract
У статті аналізується процес імперської моделі модернізації економіки України на зламі XIX-XX століть. Підкреслюється її екзогенний, неорганічний, незавершений, а тому і глибоко суперечливий характер. Акцентується увага на необхідності вивчення досвіду першої спроби індустріальної модернізації на теренах України з метою використання позитивних його елементів в сучасних модернізаційних процесах суверенної України.
