Journal Title: Inskrypcje. Półrocznik - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
The article focuses on the ways adults and old people die in Chekhov's two short stories Rothschild's Violin and Man in a Case. On the basis of the analyzed material it has been concluded that the approach to death appears to be an impulse for change, i.e. becoming a better person (Rothschild's Violin), while the moment of death symbolizes salvation from self-imposed sufferings (Man in a case).
