WATER SECURITY AND DROUGHT ON AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AND RURAL REGIONS IN SOUTH EAST OF IRAN: SITUATIONS AND PROBLEMS

Abstract
There is no doubt that drought has a major impact on farm families around the world. Drought is the most complex of all natural hazards, and more people are affected by it than any other hazard. There is a broad acknowledgement among policymakers that ground water over exploitation is now a serious challenge. Globally the agricultural sector is the biggest water user, but has as well the highest water saving potential. Increasing water efficiency and consequently water savings could be achieved by the applications. Water is an important resource for human society and protection of this natural resource efficiently has become one of the main challenges of this century. According to Iran’s geographic information, the country is located in a semi-arid region on the earth. Therefore, it can easily be claimed that the limitation of water resources is one of the major factors in the agricultural development of Iran. Main instrument for gathering information in this article was qualitative research methods and place-based approaches that used in domain of this research during 2010 – 2017. In this article discussing various aspects of water security and drought on agricultural sector and rural regions in south east of Iran and finally present solutions in this order.
