Abstract

The article discusses the importance of oxidative stress and cell degraded healing processes in the etiology of human disease on the basis of the current state of knowledge. It is known that the oxidative damage of the macromolecules (proteins, lipids, nucleic acids) are under the influence of the preliminary review of reactive oxygen species (ROS). They represent an important mechanism seen as one of the reasons why the development of many diseases. The most severe effects resulting from DNA damage, because they lead to mutations and cancer. They can contribute also to aging mobile and the whole organism. The oxidative modification of nucleic acids (and proteins) also occurs as a result of the impact of products of lipid peroxidation. Proteins and fats, though equipped with repair systems, however, are much poorer than those responsible for the repair of nucleic acids. Unfortunately with age the corrective mechanisms activity weakened, which contributes to the growth of cell damage, and consequently to the etiology of many diseases, such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, atherosclerosis, diabetes, cardiovascular system diseases and thyroid gland. Currently, there are a variety of methods to assess the level of parameters of oxidative stress, which can be used to search for new drugs and their use in modern therapy and prevention.
