Women traveling to the New World in the sixteenth century

Journal Title: Revista de Estudios Marítimos y Sociales - Year 2015, Vol 7, Issue 12

Abstract

At the start of Spanish migration to America, men and women took to the adventure to reach the lands that Europeans just met, with the hope of making a better life than they had in their homelands. The presence of women is almost invisible in the stories of history, but its output files recorded from the port of Seville. Writing about women in history is to give a face to those traveling we barely know, but who left an important mark. This paper tells about some of them and travel conditions that allowed them to start their adventure.
