Journal Title: Проблеми сучасного літературознавства - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 27
Abstract
The article presents a comparative material devoted to the study of the history of causes and factors of changes in the texts of S. A. Yesenin’s works in time and historical epochs, using the example of excerpts from the poem «The Song of the Great Campaign» and the poem «Again they drink here, fight and cry...». The story of the creation and publication of the poem «The Song of the Great Campaign» was reproduced during the author’s lifetime, which continued to work on the text, led to the appearance of different interpretations and the publication of various versions of the poem. Work has been carried out to identify the sources of the text and compare them. Peculiarities of S. А. Yesenin’s punctuation in two presented works are analyzed. In some cases, the unification of the Yesenin texts has been established in accordance with modern standards (for example, the presentation of a dialogue, some separations, etc.). At the same time, changes in texts due to ideological reasons, for example, the deletion of the fragment «October severe deceived them...», which led to the rewriting of the author’s texts by S. A. Esenin. Attention is drawn to the posthumous publications of the poet’s works, in which there are inaccuracies made in the publication not only from ignorance or error, but, in our opinion, quite deliberately. These deliberate distortions of the text were most likely connected with socio-political and sociocultural factors dominating the publisher’s country, whose censorship representatives, in accordance with the current policy, groundlessly «edited» the poet’s works. For the artistic text of any author as a form of communication between the author and the reader, significant disturbances are some kind of invasion of the text of the work that is discordant in the perception of the contents of the creation by the reader. The process of understanding the artistic text implies not only its perception as an object of linguistic and literary analysis, but also as a product of the author’s intellectual activity, taking into account the connection between the content of the text and the historical epoch and concrete historical events, as well as with the dominant sociopolitical and sociocultural backgrounds of publishers and readers. The latter, of course, negatively affects the understanding and perception of the creativity of any author and is an unacceptable fact in the publication of intellectual products by authors of any era at an arbitrary historical moment.
