Wychowanie domowe i edukacja szkolna dzieci polskich w Prusach Zachodnich w połowie XIX wieku w świetle czasopisma „Nadwiślanin” i dodatku pt. „Gospodarz”

Abstract
The process of modernization of Polish society began with the Spring of Nations in West Prussia. During this process, an important role was played by the editors of Polish periodicals. The editors repeatedly published articles about educational issues. This article is about how home and school education of Polish children were presented in the light of the newspaper “Nadwiślanin” and its supplement, Fri. “Gospodarz”. Issued during the years 1850–1866, “Nadwiślanin” was one of the first newspapers published in Polish in West Prussia. The first editor and initiator of “Nadwiślanin” was Ignacy Łyskowski – one of the most outstanding representatives of the Polish national movement in West Prussia. I. Łyskowski tried to shape the views of local society – both the elite and the lower classes. Hence the editors of “Nadwiślanin” took on the issue of the education of sons and daughters of landowners and the education of the preasant population.
