X-Ray Diffraction Residual Stress Measurements for Quality Control Testing
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii "Dunarea de Jos" din Galati. Fascicula IX, Metalurgie si Stiinta Materialelor - Year 2007, Vol 30, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper present the primary difficulties which are associated with the obtaining and interpreting surface X-ray diffraction residual stress results: the surface stresses may be identical for the shoot peening, nitriding and grinding parameters; many machining and grinding metal removal processes can generate local fluctuations in the surface residual stress; for many material removal and surface treatment processes the depth of penetration of the X-ray beam is quite shallow and can cause experimental error in the measurement of the surface stress. The stress distributions by conventional and abusive grinding of 4340 steel, the surface residual stresses for 5160 steel leaf springs shot peened may prohibit the use of non-destructive surface stress measurements.

Generation, Morphology and Mineralogy of the Dust Particles from Off-Gas Blast Furnace
In order to elucidate the morphology and mineralogy of the dust from blast furnace, the fundamental aspects of its generation process were studied. A dust generated by the dry dedusting step of the cleaning process for t...
On the Corrosion Resistance of Cu – Mo Composite Materials obtained by PVD Method
The Cu – Mo composite materials have been obtained by electron flow vaporizing followed by vapor –phase condensing. Researches have shown that corrosion resistance in wet environment varies with the content of molybdenum...
Researches Concerning Phase Transition of Zirconium Titanate Prepared by Electrolytic Method
Powder zirconium titanate ceramics obtained by an electrolytic method has been investigated. Continuous phase transition were found to occur in powder zirconium titanate above and below a major discontinuity at 1120 oC±1...
