XFEM simulation on mixed-mode fatigue crack growth of functionally graded materials
Journal Title: Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
In present study, XFEM simulation has been carried out to investigate the fatigue life of a functionally graded material (FGM) made of aluminum alloy and alumina (ceramic) under cyclic mixed mode loading. Effect of presence of minor cracks, holes and inclusions of arbitrary sizes are randomly located in the domain along with the major crack is also investigated. Paris law is used to evaluate the fatigue life of the aluminum alloy, FGM and equivalent composite.

Effect of internal heat generation and injection through one side of a long vertical channel embedded in porous medium with transpiration cooling
This paper deals with Effect of Internal heat generation and injection through one side of a long vertical channel embedded in porous medium with transpiration cooling. The non linear partial differential equations gover...
An experimental investigation on adsorption refrigeration system using silica gel-water
The soaring prices of fossil fuel and environmental issues have drawn our attention to the need for, pollution free, reliable and low cost refrigeration. Most of the existing works indicate that Adsorption The literature...
Exhaust gas recirculation (egr) – effective way to reduce NOx emissions
This paper gives insight into usage of water cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) for a twin cylinder direct injection compression ignition engine to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emission from engine exhaust. Differ...
Assessment of different drill diameter on bone drilling
Drilling is a highly demanding machining process due to drill bit geometries complexity and the progressive material failure on the workpiece. When applied to living tissues the process assumes greater attention to ensur...
Varied effects of shear correction on thermal vibration of Functionally Graded Material plates
The varied shear correction coefficient and the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) effects on the functionally graded material (FGM) thick plates under thermal vibration are investigated by using the generalized...
