Zirconium oxide: polymorphizm, synthesis and degradation. A literature approach

Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2016, Vol 66, Issue 1

Abstract

Zirconium ceramics, though widely used in dental prosthetics, has not only aesthetic properties that are difficult to overstate, but also flaws, which, if occur, may disqualify a permanent prosthetic work made from this material. This publication addresses the issues related to synthesis, polymorphism and degradation of zirconium oxide that may assist in understanding of physical and chemical phenomena occurring at the molecular level and have significant implications for clinical practice.
