Abstract
The article highlights the way of life and the ascetic activity of St. Agnes of Bohemia, representative of the royal dynasty of Prshemyslovych. The circumstances are considered that led her to renounce the secular life and become a nun and abbess of the monastery of St. Francis she had founded. Also a hospital was founded in the monastery. Both the monastery and the hospital were under the patronage of the Pope. Foundation of the monastery initiated the beginning of activities of the women's Order of St. Clare (Clarist nuns) in the Czech lands as a branch of the mendicant Franciscans Order.
