Abstract
The writing of this article was prompted by the judgments of administrative courts on the reimbursement of transportation expenses for attending a hearing incurred by a party to the proceedings, which represent a shift from the previous construal of regulations on this matter. An analysis of the judgments serves to make general observations concerning the subject. The article analyzes the conditions for establishing the reasonable and purposeful nature of the transportation expenses incurred in connection with appearing at a hearing. Among those conditions the courts included are, inter alia, the distance between the party’s residence and the seat of the court, and the actual amount of expenses. In addition, the evaluation of the conditions is determined by the circumstances surrounding a given case.
