A CASE STUDY ON THE DETERMINATION OF GIFTED STUDENTS'  LEARNING STYLES: A SAMPLE OF KAHRAMANMARAŞ

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to determine the learning styles of gifted students. For this purpose, the study was conducted with 86 gifted students continuing their education in Kahramanmaras Science and Art Center in the spring semester of the academic year 2012-2013. Learning Styles Inventory which was developed by Grasha and Riechmann (1982) and later adapted to Turkish by Uzuntiryaki, Bilgin ve Geban (2003) was used to collect data in the research. In the study, gifted students’ independent, cooperative, competitive and participatory learning styles levels was found to be high. In addition, it is determined that students have most cooperative and participatory learning styles. In the study, while the highest order positive correlation was between the participant and dependent learning styles, the highest negative correlation was found between the participants and passive learning styles.
