A comparison of social skills in popular and unpopular children ages 4-6 in Shiraz

Abstract

The aim of the present study is clarification of the social skills in popular and unpopular children ages 4-6 in the city of Shiraz. The sample group consisted of 200 children ages 6-4 in Shiraz which was finally reduced to 187 individuals. Vineland Social Maturity Scale was used for the measurement of social skills. The criterion for the popularity and unpopularity of the children was the unanimity of the teacher, instructor and the manager of the kindergarten regarding them. The validity and the reliability of the research tool had been verified by its creator. After data analysis using t-test, it was revealed that the social skills of popular and unpopular children are significantly different.
