A DIFFICULT HERITAGE OF MULTICULTURALISM. ZAMOŚĆ AND LUBARTÓW: TWO EXAMPLES FROM LUBELSZCZYZNA REGION

Journal Title: przestrzeń i FORMa - Year 2015, Vol 23, Issue 23

Abstract

Lubelszczyzna is a region where religions, nationalities and cultures have been mixing for ages. Today, the region – being the Borderland area – is also a diverse place full of toler-ance. Multicultural heritage of the region is, both, its chance and burden – it can be clearly seen on the examples of two cities: famous Zamość and less known Lubartów. They differ as far as their origin, size and popularity are considered, yet they are linked via multicultural character and precious historic heritage, as well as their tempestuous history.
