IN SEARCH OF LOST SPLENDOR – OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS OF REVITALIZATION OF JAROSŁAW

Journal Title: przestrzeń i FORMa - Year 2015, Vol 23, Issue 23

Abstract

The world strives for universal globalization and urbanization, people massively migrate to cities, more and more cities and megacities are formed. Whether small and medium-sized cities are doomed to extinction? The author takes a look at predictions for the future of small centers, specifically analyzing the example of Jarosław at Podkarpacie - less than 40 thousand inhabitants with a rich and colorful history, which mired in stagnation is looking for an idea for itself. Formerly the famous fairs collected merchants from all over Europe to Jarosław, today hardly anyone has heard of it – is there a chance for the city to recover its former glory?
