A knowledge about the relationship between dietary habits and sleep quality
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2013, Vol 36, Issue 2
Abstract
To investigate the relationship between dietary habits and sleep quality, we calculated the total protein, tryptophan, total carbohydrate, total lipid, zinc, and sodium intakes based on the contents of all meals during 1 week, and evaluated their possible association with the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) score. The possible association between the PSQI score and mood score or the derivatives-reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) was also evaluated. The subjects consisted of 10 healthy female volunteers in the same generation. There was a significant inverse correlation between the PSQI score and tryptophan as an essential amino acid and a significant positive correlation between the PSQI score and d-ROMs. The PSQI score were inversely associated with the zinc, total protein, sodium, and energy intakes and the vigor score.

The circadian rhythm of glycosylated compounds: HOMA-R and HOMA-β
Although there is some difference among an individuals, it is well known that circadian changes are present in nearly all life throughout our bodies. It is important to understand interindividual variations in order to d...
New creatine kinase assay kit for clinical analyzers- Know-How and techniques for reagent stabilization -
Creatine kinase (CK) is an essential enzyme that is present in various tissues like skeletal muscle, myocardium or brain, and it plays a crucial role in energy metabolism. During muscle or myocardial injury, CK is releas...
Analysis based on the chemical equilibrium regarding the color development ratio between albumins varying in a straight seed in the dye-binding method
Reaction conditions that make the color development of human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) equal was analyzed based on their chemical equilibrium. When there are reaction conditions of KPDH<KPDB a...
Monomeric sarcosine oxidase acts on both L- and D-substrates
The stereoselectivity of monomeric sarcosine oxidase (mSox), an enzyme used for creatinine determination, was assayed by using N-methylalanine and proline. As a result, mSox reacted to both L- and D-substrates, although...
Reaction mechanism of a protein error in the presence of in organic salt: proof from an absorption spectrum of color development
Color development by protein error decreases in the presence of in organic salt, and its reaction mechanism is proposed. In this paper, whether or not the absorption spectra of this color reaction indicates the character...
