A Limit Survey to Accidental Gaps in English

Abstract

The term Gap is used in linguistics to refer to the absence of a linguistic unit at a place in a pattern of relationships where one might have been expected; also called an accidental gap or hole in the pattern. In this paper we present the Accidental Gaps in terms of words which are possible but can not be used or have not happened in English language. “Accidental Gaps” has been defined and explained about in the introduction part. We have a review of literature in the discussion part. Part three is the results in which in this paper are some examples of accidental gaps in English and finally some conclusion is drawn and mentioned. In this study to make accidental gaps words the book “Ph.D. TOEFL” has been studied.
