A REVIEW ON BILAYER TABLETS
Journal Title: Journal of Drug Discovery and Therapeutics - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
Over the past 30 years stated that the expense and complications involved in marketing new drug entities have increased, with concomitant recognition of therapeutic advantages of controlled drug delivery, greater attention has been focused on development of sustained or controlled release drug delivery systems. Bilayer tablet is new era for the successful development of controlled release formulation along with various features to provide a way of successful drug delivery system. Controlled release dosage forms have been extensively used to improve therapy with several important drugs. Use of bilayer tablet is a very different aspect for anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Bi-layer tablet is suitable for sequential release of two drugs in combination, separate two incompatible substances and also for sustained release tablet in which one Layer is immediate release as initial dose and second layer is maintenance dose. Bilayer tablet is improved beneficial technology to overcome the shortcoming of the single layered tablet. In the case of bilayered tablets drug release can be rendered almost unidirectional if the drug can be incorporated in the upper nonadhesive layer its delivery occurs into the whole oral cavity.

Formulation & evaluation of Ofloxacin sustained release matrix tablet
The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate sustained release matrix tablets of Ofloxacin to achieve sustained drug release. Sustained release matrix tablets of Ofloxacin were prepared by wet granulation method usi...
NOVEL COMPOUNDS WITH ANTIULCEROGENIC POTENTIALS UNVEILED IN PLANTAIN LEAVES ISOLATES (MUSA PARADISCIACA)
Ethanolic extract of plantain leaves was tested on forty eight ethanolic induced gastric ulcer rats for 28 days. The extract was found to posses potent antiulcerogenic effects. The isolates of such was analysed with Nucl...
FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF COLON TARGETED DELAYED RELEASE MICROSPHERIC CAPSULES OF ALBENDAZOLE
The aim of the present work was to prepare and evaluate the colon targeted delayed release microspheric capsules of albendazole. The preparation of albendazole microspheres by ionic gelation method avoids the usage of to...
Solvent evaporation as a imposing method for microencapsulation - A review
Microencapsulation is a process from which solid, liquid or even gaseous particles are coated with a continuous film of polymeric material, having a diameter in range of 1 to 1000 μm and are widely used as drug carriers....
Novel spectrophotometric estimation of Gliclazide by using mixed hydrotropic solubilization phenomenon.
To increase the solubility of Gliclazide which is sparingly soluble in water by using hydrotropic agent i.e. urea, sodium acetate and their combinations. Hydrotropic means to increase in solubility of solute by the addit...
