A Review on the Role of Nanocatalysts in Industry
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 6
Abstract
The topic of nanomaterials has become one of the most important division in the present era research. The research being driven both by academic curiosity and the promise of useful applications. Interest in the synthesis of nanomaterials has gained remarkable importance after the discovery of the fullerenes and carbon nanotubes. In the area of organic synthesis, a rapidly growing field which involves the use of nanomaterials as catalysts for a variety of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic applications is Nanocatalysis. Metals and metal oxides in nano-scale have exhibited great potential for their applications as catalytic materials, wastewater treatment adsorbents, pigments, flocculants, coatings, gas sensors, ion exchangers, magnetic recording devices, magnetic data storage devices, toners and inks for xerography, magnetic resonance imaging, bioseparation and medicine. This review outlines the role of nanomaterials as catalysts or supporters and promoters of catalyst in the preparation of chemicals at Industrial scale.
