A Review on various HPLC, HPTLC and Spectrophotometric methods for determination of Valsartan and Ramipril in combined dosage forms
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Valsartan belongs to the category of Anti-hypertensive, used in combination with it belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors which are used for treating high blood pressure, heart failure and for preventing kidney failure due to high blood pressure and diabetes. The clinical and pharmaceutical analysis of these drugs requires effective analytical procedures for quality control, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics studies. An extensive survey of the literature published in various analytical and pharmaceutical chemistry related journals has been conducted and the instrumental methods which were developed and used for determination of valsartanin combined dosage form have been reviewed. This review covers various analytical methods for estimation of Valsartan and Ramipril in combined dosage forms, such as spectrophotometry, derivative spectrophotometry, high-performance thin layer liquid chromatography (HPTLC) and various high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methods were published from 2000 to 2014.
