A seedeater dwelling the Azaleas´ round point

Abstract
Introduction. The Sporophila species is a group of birds from the Fringillidae family, identified by their small size and tick conic peak. They distribuye themselves especially in environments with grass and small trees, in tropical or sub-tropical zones of the new World. Among the large number of birds from this species, the group of “capuchinos” (seedeaters) is a challenge for research and conservation. It is integrated by the smallest and colourful species of its kind, and they are also the less known and most endangered in extinction terms. Materials and methods. A couple and two eggs ofsporophila were observed during ten days in the month of May, at the Corporación Universitaria Lasallista´s campus. They were photographed and the organisms were identified by using the Colombia´s Bird Guide. Results. The individuals observed belong to the sporophila species, a bird group from the Fringillidae family, known because of their small size and tick conic peak. Conclusion. The Corporación Universitaria Lasallista´s campus can be considered as a biological corridor that constitutes an heterogeneous landscape, used as a stop point by migrant birds or as a temporary or permanent food source that allows the occupation of empty niches and, thus, reproductive processes.
